Im Expecting Newcastle United Set For Big Spending Next Summer As Paul Mitchell Overhaul Outlined

'I’m expecting' - Newcastle United set for ‘big spending’ next summer as Paul Mitchell ‘overhaul’ outlined

Newcastle United are expecting ‘big spending’ as they target a summer overhaul under Paul Mitchell.

That is according to transfer insider Dean Jones, who believes the club will have ‘a kitty to spend’ in the next transfer window.

Newcastle spent over £200million in the summer and have had a busy January window so far, signing Anthony Gordon, Harrison Ashby and Garang Kuol.

But Jones expects the spending to continue under Mitchell, who was appointed as Newcastle’s sporting director last month.

“I’m expecting big spending and a big overhaul in the summer,” Jones told GiveMeSport.

"I think Paul Mitchell is going to come in and do exactly what he did at Monaco, Lyon and Leipzig, where he has a kitty to spend and he brings in players that fit a certain profile."

Mitchell has a history of signing exciting young players, such as Aurelien Tchouameni, Kai Havertz and Christopher Nkunku.

And Jones believes Newcastle could target similar players in the summer.

“I think there will be a lot of young, exciting players coming in and they will be looking at players like Mykhaylo Mudryk and Kauro Mitoma,” Jones added.

“So, I think there is a lot to look forward to.”

Newcastle are currently third in the Premier League and have a good chance of qualifying for the Champions League.

And Jones believes that the club’s spending in the summer will help them to challenge for major honors.

“I think they will be looking to build a team that can compete for the Champions League,” Jones said.

"They have a good squad now, but they need to add some more quality and depth in certain areas.

"I think if they can do that, they can be a real force next season.”
